My name is Katie, and I am so excited to share my journey with you.

I started Heartland Home 5 years ago during college where I would create string art signs as home decor pieces. I started out just making them for family and friends to help save money on holiday gifts but then got flooded with many custom order requests and decided to officially open up shop.

Once I graduated, I moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to live the ski & mountain life so I wasn’t sure what that meant for my new small business. After some creative thinking and overcoming some challenges, I continued to create my designs and sell signs across the country.

I should mention that I went to school for Hospitality & Event management where I grew a strong passion for weddings and all things event design/decor. I am thrilled to say that some of my favorite string art designs have been used as wedding decor, guest books or as save the date invitations. I love that this business combines my two favorite things!

Fast forward to 2020, living in Boston during a pandemic. Luckily, still working my full time job (remotely) I found myself yearning for ways to get my creativity out and to help escape the craziness going on around us. Like many, I bought lots and lots of houseplants to help decorate and fill my Boston apartment. Now more than ever I would tell myself “Invest in what makes you happiest” and that’s exactly what I did. I decided to move to Vermont and kickstart this expansion of my business.

I am excited to announce the rebrand of Heartland Homes- handcrafted decor. I will continue creating made to order String Art signs as well as handmade terrazzo home decor items. This will include coasters, trinket trays, planter/flower pots, and more decor!

I am forever grateful for all the support thus far and even more excited for what lies ahead.
